Want to know how to get a high score on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin?

To prove to your king or queen, prince or princess that you rule all things Disney, you need to win Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

Magic Kingdom boasts this Toy Story arcade-style shooting game in which you compete against your ridemates to get the highest score.

The first few times I rode this ride, I simply could NOT figure out how people scored so highly. I happened to be riding with a Cast Member (DisneySpeak for employee) and a former Cast Member, and they absolutely destroyed my score.

Where they snipers? Nope. As it turns out…not all targets are created equal.

This robot, located in the first room of the Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin ride, will give you 100,000 points if you hit it. Do this first.

First 100,00 points

Your first chance to rack up 100,000 points in ONE SHOT is in the very first room. You will see a robot – shoot for his LEFT ARM.

Concentrate your fire there, ensuring you hit it.

You are now ahead of your ride mates.

There is an rumor that if you are able to hit the target multiple times, you can get multiples of 100,000. Per a cast member who loves Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, “it’s really hard to do.”

Another 100,000 points

When you see the evil Emperor Zurg on Planet Z, shoot at the target at the bottom of his body.

This shot is worth another 100,000 points, over my initial full-ride score.

The other targets are pretty much gravy unless you are riding with pros…

Are you? We can help with that, too.

Just watch the video at the bottom of the page. It will show you have to score 999,999 points, making you a Galactic Hero.

Other ways to get a high score

  • Hold down your trigger as opposed to shooting individual shots so you have continuous fire.
  • Know where your laser is hitting. To figure it out, aim it at something others aren’t shooting at and calibrate your shots, then track it to the targets you are aiming for.
  • Start aiming at targets in the next room before you enter as opposed to trying to hit targets in the room you are leaving.
