Wishes Fireworks Display to be Replaced by ‘Happily Ever After’ this Spring
There will be a new fireworks display coming to Magic Kingdom in Disney World this spring. For over thirteen years, Magic Kingdom has closed its doors at night after the Wishes fireworks display, a show known and loved by many. On May 12, 2017, Disney will be changing the evening show from Wishes to a new show called Happily Ever After. It will feature cutting edge technology and highlight the characters and stories from some of the most popular Disney animated films. It is one of many changes coming to Magic Kingdom and to Disney World in 2017, including a new rope drop and opening ceremony.
Disney will be combining what they call “state-of-the-art projection mapping technology” and “the latest fireworks and pyrotechnics and original animation, plus a heart-tugging original score.” Transformations of the castle, like that below, will be a theme throughout the show.
Focused on the stories of characters from Disney animated films
The show will be focused around the adventures taken by a number of characters from Disney’s popular animated films and set to a score that will feature new spins on popular Disney songs. Thanks to the technology upgrade, the show will contain lots of characters! It is slated to have “a stirring score featuring contemporary versions of popular Disney songs” from multiple movies. Honestly, we love Wishes, but Happily Ever After sounds like it will be a really cool show.
Films that will be Featured in Happily Ever After:
- Big Hero Six
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame
- The Incredibles
- The Lion King
- The Little Mermaid
- The Princess and the Frog
- Toy Story
- Wreck-It Ralph
